Project Pitch
Turmeric Transform - Green Bean Manufacturing is transitioning from a technology provider into a vertically integrated spice processing operator through the development of an end-to-end Turmeric Processing Facility and Sterilization Plant. The project addresses a critical quality gap preventing Ethiopian turmeric from accessing premium pharmaceutical and nutraceutical export markets, primarily due to insufficient processing infrastructure.
The facility will produce high-luster dried whole turmeric fingers using a hybrid drying sequence combining cabinet dryers and solar tunnel curing to preserve curcumin content and natural oils. This approach enables premium export positioning while reducing operational costs.
Operations follow a fixed hub-spoke model that processes turmeric at the farm gate, reducing logistics costs by up to 70% per export unit. Mobile processing units further strengthen supply chain resilience through a Processing-as-a-Service model, where fees are collected in-kind from harvest output to ensure reliable raw material supply.
The project’s financial model targets production costs of approximately $725 per metric ton with significant margin protection, allowing resilience against commodity price fluctuations while maintaining EBITDA positivity.
