Information
VSUN Energy is a 100% owned subsidiary of Australian Vanadium Limited (ASX: AVL) and offers long duration energy storage to provide reliable and uninterrupted power delivery for the transition to 100% renewable energy use. Utilising commercialised technology from established manufacturers and locally manufactured electrolyte, the vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) solutions from VSUN Energy provide the next steps in mining decarbonisation.
In mining applications, diesel use is expensive and carbon intensive. In isolated regions it also represents a significant burden on staff resources. Use of a VRFB solution can provide mining operations with clean, safe and cheap renewable energy for months at a time, whilst also allowing for reductions in operating costs, carbon emissions and importantly, reductions in staffing hours for maintenance. With low operating costs and the capability to run autonomously for months at a time, the VRFB centric solution is the missing piece in the transition to 100% renewable energy operations in mining. VSUN Energy is currently supplying standalone power systems utilising VRFB technology to mining operations in Western Australia. Applications include bore fields, process water, mine camps and large-scale mining operations which are now transitioning to a 100% renewable energy solution with the commercially proven VRFB.
