Decarbonisation is a difficult and complex transition for mining companies with a very short timeline and an urgency to determine concrete methodologies and pathways. While progress is being made, roadmaps to net-zero mining are far from clear. Miners have many questions around the implementation, performance, cost, integration, commercialization, infrastructure and interoperability of different carbon-free technologies.
