In this talk, Li-Lian will share the opportunities and projects of the BlueDot community, particularly those with a Southeast Asian background. Learn how you can follow in their footsteps to work on AI safety and biosecurity, bringing your unique perspective to help develop emerging technologies for the benefit of all.

BlueDot ImpactNumerous world-changing technologies have developed over the past decade, such as generative AI models and CRISPR gene editing tools. We believe technological development will continue at a rapid pace, with both the potential to create an amazing future and the potential to cause catastrophic harm. The world needs a significantly more capable and well-resourced workforce to steer these emerging technologies for the benefit of all, and to mitigate and respond to emerging catastrophic threats. However, few concerted efforts exist to develop or coordinate this global capability. While thousands of people are interested in working on these issues, many don’t yet have the support, skills or self-belief required to contribute or take a leap with their careers. We run courses that support people to develop the knowledge, skills and connections to pursue a high-impact career solving these globally pressing issues.
