What is the future of private narrowband networks

Thursday, November 4, 2021 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM · 30 min. (Europe/Madrid)
Conference room D: Envision and Advance
Sponsored Session

Information

During this session attendees will learn:

 1. Narrowband technology has been used in trunking/conventional voice communication for

decades of years, what’re the main challenges narrowband technology facing nowadays?

2. The sub-1GHz frequency spectrum is more suitable for narrowband than broadband.

3. Explore what other functions can be achieved by narrowband technology with low network cost and strong D2D capability characteristics

4. Emergency voice communication will shrink to a low level after years of challenge from

broadband, small data such as IoT applications will reuse the idle narrowband spectrum.

5. There is a challenge to the narrowband licensed spectrum, if the idle spectrum could be shared to a spectrum pool that is controlled, managed, and collaborated, it could carry more data just like conventional system upgrading to trunking system.

6. The fate of narrowband is in its own hand, auto adaptable multi-rate data transmission, enhanced ad-hoc D2D communication will keep narrowband alive for decades of years by emergency voice plus small data IoT applications.
