When Align JV (a joint venture of Bouygues Travaux Publics, Sir Robert McAlpine, and VolkerFitzpatrick) wanted to find new ways to innovate on their part of HS2 they turned to ALICE Technologies. ALICE is an AI-powered construction optioneering tool. Align wanted to see if they could optimise the schedule for a complicated part of their programme – a 3.37km viaduct, with many fixed constraints. Able to simulate millions of scheduling options in minutes, ALICE was the perfect tool. In six weeks, the team replicated three years of planning work and found significant time and cost savings on the project.
