Consultative body of the European Union
The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is a consultative body of the European Union established in 1958. It represents organized civil society, including employers, workers, and various interest groups, and consists of 329 members. The EESC's primary role is to provide opinions on EU policies and legislation, acting as a bridge between the EU's decision-making institutions and civil society. It issues opinions based on mandatory consultations in specific fields established by the Treaties or voluntary consultations by the European Commission.
