Desert Hothouse

Desert Hothouse is a bold dance event, a triptych of performances each with a unique voice and aesthetic, exploring sovereignty, self-determination, control, empathy and myth making. The three works can be presented as individual shows, or alongside each other in a full takeover of your art centre or venue. White Lies by Katina Olsen: A powerful reckoning with terra nullius, sovereignty, and Australia's unfinished business with truth. territory by Frankie Snowdon: An immersive work that reframes land as body, and bodies as countries, interrogating the concept of territory as something to be claimed and controlled. Public Property by Madeleine Krenek: A spectacle of endurance, emotional vulnerability and exhaustion, inspired by the grim spectacle of depression era dance competitions of the 1920s and 30s.
