Inland Rail is a fast freight backbone that will transform how we move goods around Australia, generating opportunities for our regions and our economy, now and well into the future.
Spanning 1,700km and comprising 13 individual projects, Inland Rail is the missing link in our national freight network, providing transit times of less than 24 hours for freight trains between Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
The Australian Government is delivering Inland Rail through the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC), in partnership with the private sector, with local knowledge and insights from landowners, businesses and communities.
ARTC is a vital part of Australia’s transport supply chain and the economic development of Australia. Our principal business is to manage more than 8,500km of track across New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Victoria.
