Company / Artist Bio
Based in Tarndayangga/Adelaide, Sally Chance Dance (SCD) has created and toured six dance-theatre works for audiences aged 3 years and younger. Three - The Thing That Matters, Seashore, and Touch & Go are tour ready. SCD's seventh work, Of Babies & Men, for audiences aged 18 months and younger, will be ready from mid 2026. The Thing That Matters and Seashore were devised in co-creative Family Dance Labs enabling their presentation by local ensembles of young children and their adults and the company, or by the company only. Each work features originally composed music performed live. SCD's artists have exceptional skills in creating a responsive meeting point between the work and our audiences, based on the company's philosophy of valuing the co-creative presence of children. Sally has collaborated on other early years works including Flower 꽃with Seoul-based Masil Theatre and First Nations-led early years dance work, Our Corka Bubs, directed by Gina Rings. Sally completed doctoral study at the Queensland University of Technology, Meanjin/Brisbane. She and the company are always ready to offer scholarly lectures, community/family workshops and artist master classes.

Reviews
"Closeness is certainly a key to [Seashore]'s appeal. Here was an environment in which [children] were assured that the space was theirs to embody. This resulted in an intimacy with fellow audience members that was exhilarating in its novelty."
