Founded in 2018 by dance artists Frankie Snowdon and Madeleine Krenek, GUTS exists in a unique, diverse and complex place - Mparntwe/Alice Springs - and is the only platform for contemporary dance investigation, creation, training and performance within a 1500km radius. GUTS is recognised as a centre for artistic growth and excellence, championing courage, community and collaboration as tools to create genuinely transformative art.
We contribute to a reciprocal and connected creative sector while elevating the profile of regional arts practise. All of our work is locally built and grounded in a focus on engaging communities - intergenerationally and interculturally - through programs, public classes and performance.
GUTS have produced, premiered, partnered on and toured 6 new contemporary dance works since 2019, presenting work in all states and the NT in both regional and metro locations, across a variety of independent seasons and major festivals, and internationally. GUTS also maintains a fierce dedication to youth and community, providing award winning programs and opportunities for over 350 young people yearly, as well as investing in artist development.
