Information

HYMNS FOR THE WITCHING HOUR is a full-length performance work by Kuya James, choreographed by Kino McHugh that explores James' Filipino Australian heritage and experiences of 'the witching hour', that time in the night when spirits walk the earth. This bedtime story meets morality tale, weaves through a lush sensory experience with narratives about culture, religion, family, and the healing power of music. The production premiered in 2023, attracting audiences of diverse faiths, cultures and generations who all reported a resonance with the content. Kuya James has created a show that has filled a neglected market - conservative families and communities of faith. This versatile production suits a wide range of spaces but is best in intimate spaces.
