The House that Dan Built
Company / Artist Bio
The House that Dan Built is a NSW based music organisation that raises girls' voices and advances women's careers.
The House plays a unique role in amplifying and nurturing the power of the female voice and its capacity to move and delight, resulting in respected public performances.
Underpinning The House's programs are the principles of participation, empowerment, self-determination and the joyful artistic expression of women and girls.
The House scholarships girls, mentors young women, and commissions established composers to create new works that champion the female voice.
Current works include 100 WOMEN, a joyous community singing project touring nationally; TENDER YOUNG CREATURES, an immersive work performed by teenage girls; REVERENCE, a modern opera by award-winning composer Rose Riebl;and CHASING THE WIND, an international co-production for young audiences.
Our performances have been seen at the National Gallery of Australia and the Venice Biennale in Angelica Mesiti's ASSEMBLY, at Festival Tokyo in SCO's THE HOWLING GIRLS, and our original works have been performed at NSW State Parliament, NSW State Library, Carriageworks, and the Biennale of Sydney.

Reviews
"I felt like I was paying homage to my brave, broken, beautiful female ancestors, and by doing so - that I was somehow passing on their wisdom. It was bonding, swirling and enthralling and I will never forget the magic of it."
