Endling

Arts Market

Information

Endling is an interactive installation-performance with puppetry offering hope through environmental regeneration. Children dive into another world to discover Endling - the last living creature of her kind. Through interaction and play, families work together to create an ideal environment for Endling. Endling provides hope through giving children agency to reimagine and contribute to environmental regeneration. The experience unfolds as a collective journey of care and creation as children are prompted to consider Endling's needs: what sustenance does she require? What kind of shelter would protect her? What environmental conditions would allow her to flourish? This leads to rich, collaborative problem-solving as children contribute their ideas and physically participate in building a vibrant new world for Endling. The project fuses puppetry, tactile design and collaborative play to create a unique arts experience for primary school children. Its core aim is to transform feelings of helplessness into a tangible sense of agency, demonstrating that even the youngest citizens have the capacity to envision and enact positive change for our planet.

Reviews
"Endling seeks to tackle climate anxiety and replace it with hope; to show that all is not lost. It does this, not by telling, but by having the kids doing. - at the end of 45 minutes, children and parents alike are smiling" - Michael Brindley

Playable Streets is producing Endling by Barking Spider Creative. Endling and ColdVoice (by Playable Streets) can be presented as a double bill. https://www.playablestreets.com/coldvoice ColdVoice and Endling are an environmental performance primer pack that invites family-audiences to step into and experience playful, important works focused on ecological regeneration. Produced by Playable Streets, these beautiful works are thematically complementary but offer distinct presenting opportunities, as each work can be presented as a stand-alone. They delight diverse family audiences. ColdVoice and Endling are the cornerstone of our long-term creative sustainability strategy. Together, the works tour with a minimum crew of performers/ producers and engage local artists, reducing our environmental footprint as we delight audiences near and far. As conversations around climate change grow more urgent, there is a pressing need for works that engage the public-especially children and families-in accessible, empowering ways. they invite action, imagination, and connection. Playable Streets and Barking Spider Creative are excited by the potential of these works to engage audiences physically, emotionally, and socially. They create space for deep reflection and playful interaction, transforming eco-anxiety into curiosity and hope.
