Information
Te Tangi a te Tūī is a Te Reo Māori Circus Theatre Epic and is an evocative narrative of love and loss between Māori and the natural world in the face ofcolonial impact. Commissioned by The Cultch, Vancouver and Indigenous Vancouver theatre company Urban Ink, with a World premiere in Vancouver, October 2023, the show is a collaboration between Māori theatre company Te Pou Theatre and New Zealand's largest cirque theatre company, The Dust Palace and had is Aotearoa Premiere as part of the Auckland Arts Festival in March 2024. Both seasons were met with sold out shows (sales at 83% in Canada and 89% in Auckland) and critical acclaim "Visually and emotionally powerful" -Stir Vancouver, the show has further interest in Canadian and New Zealand presenters and we'd like to share this work with Australian audiences.

Te Pou Theatre is a kaupapa Māori performing arts venue and presentation company that presents and develops contemporary Māori performing arts locally, nationally and internationally from our home in Waitākere, Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland NZ.
Our purpose is to provide mana uplifting experiences and storytelling through kaupapa Māori led, collective approaches to performing arts.
The Dust Palace is the leading cirque theatre company in Aotearoa/New Zealand, elevating contemporary circus culture, and building multi-generational creative capacity in circus, holding the next wave of talent, encouraging better practice & empowering a bold future for the art form.
