ONHYM (Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines) is the national agency responsible for promoting and developing Morocco's hydrocarbon and mining resources. As a strategic actor in the country’s energy future, ONHYM actively fosters exploration and investment through a stable and investor-friendly framework, high-quality geoscientific data, and open collaboration with international partners.

Morocco offers a vast and geologically diverse frontier for upstream oil and gas exploration. With sedimentary basins covering both onshore and offshore domains, the country hosts multiple proven petroleum systems ranging from Paleozoic to Neogene, with discoveries of biogenic gas, thermogenic gas, condensates, and light to heavy oils. Numerous underexplored basins remain open, supported by recent seismic and well data, and emerging exploration concepts such as subsalt and subthrust plays.
