Paper ID: C2025-00525 ABSTRACT: Pipelines and casings have been thoroughly discussed in the pipeline integrity industry. It is commonly understood that a metallically shorted pipeline casing will depress CP potentials, but what happens when this local depression is not seen on subsequent surveys? This paper will discuss a real-life scenario where a pipeline was surveyed via an interrupted CIS that did not align with subsequent surveys and the test methods that went into determining the cause of this occurrence.
