Paper ID: C2025-00010 ABSTRACT: Advancements in technology and formulation are allowing enhanced plastisol coatings (EPCs) to be applied to substrates that have never been considered in the past, whether because of their size, location or because it was technologically and/or economically prohibitive to attempt. Changes in the formulation have increased the ease and economic benefits of applying EPCs. Testing by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) has shown that the EPC can provide at least a 50-year service life. SWAAT and B117 tests have shown that EPCs perform well in harsh environments. EPC coated concrete reinforcement can be shaped on-site.
This paper will discuss the advancements in EPC application using induction and infrared systems and the initial test results for EPC coated concrete reinforcement, specifically considering concrete pull-out and bend testing.
