Snohomish County is located on the Puget Sound and is a gorgeous place to visit, live, and grow! The County's varied topography ranges from saltwater beaches, rolling hills and rich river bottom farmlands in the west to dense forest and alpine wilderness in the mountainous east. Glacier Peak, at 10,541 feet, is the highest point in the County. Sixty-eight percent of the county land area is forest land, 18% is rural, 9% is urban/city, and 5% is agricultural.
Our County Executive is Dave Somers. Dave took office on January 1, 2016. He manages 12 diverse departments including Paine Field Airport, Medical Examiner, Conservation and Natural Resources, Finance, Information Technology, Human Services, Facilities, and many more. Dave also created the Office of Social Justice and is dedicated to supporting our community and our diversity.
The Purchasing Division procures many different products and services for County departments including: construction, a/e services, public works related services, bond and finance services, equipment and supplies to support our IT, Parks, Airport, Corrections, and Facilities Departments. We support the Evergreen State Fair, the Paine Field Airport, the Office of Energy and Sustainability, Public Works, Solid Waste, Surface Water, and Roads Divisions.
