Cognitive Capabilities for Aero-engines’ Aftermarket
Manufacturing
Information
Amii was named as part of a $13.9 million AI-aerospace project. Scale AI is contributing $3 million to this project. The announcement was made on July 10 at Startup Montreal, where Scale AI highlighted its latest round of applied AI project investments totalling $98.6 million and supporting 23 applied AI projects, with the Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, present at the event. Amii was chosen for its deep expertise in RL and is committed to a two-year-long engagement with the project.
The Strategic Aftermarket Modelling project will advance aerospace predictive maintenance through AI, leveraging diverse datasets and subject matter expertise. It will also incorporate optimized scenario simulations and reinforcement learning (RL) with human feedback loops. In addition, five interconnected AI modules are being developed. These modules will provide increasingly granular data, ranging from part replacement predictions and time-on-wing estimations (which predict how long an aircraft engine can safely operate before maintenance is needed) at the individual engine serial number level, all the way to fleet-wide trend detection and unscheduled maintenance forecasting. The system will also feature “what if” scenario simulations to support cost sensitivity analysis, alongside an RL layer enhanced by human feedback to continuously refine outputs.
