Revolutionizing Dentistry with AI

Halo Dental Technologies, founded by visionary dentist Claude Chamoun and team, set out to transform dental care by drastically reducing manual record-keeping. Their connected dental mirror enables practitioners to focus more on patients while AI handles routine tasks. Osedea collaborated with Halo to design and develop their full medical records platform, leveraging AI, computer vision, NLP, and secure serverless architecture. Using computer vision, the system automatically detects when the mirror is in a patient’s mouth, rotates and enhances images, and controls LED lighting in real time. Natural language processing converts spoken tooth chart readings into patient files, minimizing manual documentation and freeing dental assistants for patient care. The platform integrates seamlessly with Halo’s compact, Wifi-enabled hardware, utilizing a custom micro-backend to manage hardware functions from a tablet or web app. Data is handled through Amazon DynamoDB and AWS Lambda, ensuring fast, scalable, and fully encrypted storage compliant with HIPAA and GDPR regulations. After a year of development, V1 of the solution is complete. Dental practices receive the full system: a tablet with preloaded software, wifi-enabled mirror with swappable heads, and mounting arm. Photo, audio, and video features allow dentists to educate patients, demonstrate procedures, and track progress over time. Next steps include bilingual support, advanced AI features, and integration with third-party dental software to enhance the platform’s capabilities.
