Equal opportunities for all: empowering vulnerable groups in the just transition
Information
Ensuring a fair and just transition for all requires examining and responding to the barriers and obstacles that, if removed, could lead to equal opportunities for vulnerable populations and groups of stakeholders so far underrepresented in the labour market. Moreover, empowering vulnerable households and citizens, who are more often affected by the energy transition and crisis, through structural actions and measures focusing on root causes of energy poverty, reducing energy consumption, or improving energy efficiency of housing should be at the heart of the just transition.
The aim of this session is to better understand the barriers preventing underrepresented groups from working in green and transforming sectors, to exchange on how vulnerable citizens and households could be empowered to better cope with the consequences of green and energy transition and discuss ways in which these underrepresented and marginalised groups can be explicitly engaged in the just transition.
