Presentation Goal: This Peer Insights presentation is designed to provide advanced practice providers (APPs) with practical, evidence-based knowledge of prostate imaging using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and ultrasound (US), emphasizing their role in biopsy procedures and patient management.
1. Introduce Prostate Imaging Techniques: Provide an overview of ultrasound and multiparametric MRI as essential tools for prostate evaluation, highlighting their complementary strengths.
2. Highlight Clinical Relevance: Discuss how accurate imaging guides clinical decisions, including biopsy planning, treatment selection, and monitoring of prostate conditions, particularly prostate cancer.
3. Explain Imaging Protocols: Review prostate MRI and US techniques, and interpretation. Focus on key MRI sequences for lesion detection and features relevant to diagnosis.
4. Compare Imaging Modalities: Contrast MRI and US, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses.
5. Case Examples: Present patient cases demonstrating effective use of MRI and US, including scenarios where one modality complements the other to enhance diagnostic accuracy.
6. Discuss Emerging Technologies: Briefly touch on advances such as the Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA) PET Scan, and artificial intelligence tools that may improve lesion detection and interpretation.
By the end of this session, APPs will understand the strengths and limitations of MRI and US, know how to interpret key findings, and feel confident applying imaging insights to guide biopsy procedures and clinical decision-making with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes.
Presentation Description: This session is designed to provide advanced practice providers (APPs) with practical, evidence-based insights into prostate imaging using MRI and ultrasound (US). Attendees will explore the role of these modalities in detecting prostate lesions, and how imaging findings guide prostate biopsies and clinical management. The presentation will review standard imaging protocols, compare strengths and limitations of MRI and US, highlight and illustrate case examples, and discuss emerging technologies. Participants will leave with a better understanding of how to integrate imaging insights into patient-centered care and optimize clinical decision-making.
