About me

Freddy Koch has 20 years of specific experience in air quality, improvement of urban mobility and solid waste management. Manager for 13 years of the Swiss Cooperation's Clean Air Project in Bolivia. In Urban Mobility, he was manager of 8 Municipal Sustainable Mobility Plans and the support and coordination of 2 more, financed by the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank. In the field of public transport systems, supported the implementation of the Cable Car System in the city of La Paz (Mi Teleférico) and the municipal transport systems: La Paz Bus- Puma Katari and Wayna Bus-El Alto, as well as multiple projects to improve urban mobility in cities. He was leader of the technical team that prepared the proposal for a technical and economic feasibility study, which allows estimating the macroeconomic impacts of the introduction of electric mobility in public transport in Bolivia (GIZ) and the quantification of CO2 emissions in transport in Bolivia and its potential for emissions reduction by the introduction of electromobility. Regional Coordinator of CALAC+ Project in the improvement of Clean Buses in 4 Latin American cities (Bogotá, Lima, Mexico City and Santiago de Chile) (SDC) Talking about his experience in Solid Waste Management, Freddy Koch has been Head of the Zero Waste Project for La Paz Bolivia financed by the Swedish cooperation (SIDA). As Head of the Project in La Paz Bolivia, he technically assisted the consolidation of an integrated solid waste management model for the city, the improvement of the differentiated collection system for recyclable and organic waste and the implementation of the municipal composting plant. He also has supported the waste to energy project of the City, visiting with the authorities many examples of other Countries. He worked as senior advisor on urban mobility and electric mobility for the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme (PEERR II) of the GIZ (50%). Actually, he is advisor and thematic leader of Swisscontact at regional and global level in the area of green cities.
