The Ober Nas corniche, Vitznau, Switzerland

The regional K2b road between the districts of Vitznau and Gersau runs through very steep terrain near the regional border and no longer meets requirements. The road is too narrow, and the condition of the carriageway and engineering structures is poor. This project aims to renovate and widen this section of road in accordance with applicable standards and requirements. The widening will take place on the valley side in particular, which will require the construction of an approximately 350 m cantilevered structure. For the most part, this is a cantilevered, back-anchored ribbed structure that runs along the rock face. This presentation sheds light on the background and boundary conditions of the project, the design, static and structural concepts, as well as aspects of the execution planning.
