Juried Showcase | IMGE Dance
Information
IMGE presents excerpts of (no)man, the 60-minute tour-ready dance show, which travels through ideas of home and identity while juxtaposing transcultural movement as a reflection of power and privilege, questioning who is included and excluded in this borrowed space and time. The 15-minute excerpt will explore migration of immigrants and colonizers; draw a parallel between gender-based harassment and Indian myth; and the creation of a community meal, from harvest to fire.
IMGE has seen audiences from all ages and backgrounds connect to the work, with Gen Z and millennial second-generation immigrants at its core – and South Asian women seeking to understand their identities in contemporary ways. Intergenerational post-show discussions have been animated.
(no)man was awarded a CUNY Dance Initiative residency at BMCC Tribeca PAC in 2025, with excerpts performed at New Victory Theater, Seattle International Dance Festival, Battery Dance Festival, and Nritya Darpan.
