Information
Gaps in transport networks are one of the biggest challenges currently facing the public transport industry, as those fighting for improved transport equity and accessibility continue to shine a spotlight on the groups of passengers and rural areas that remain underserved by fixed route services that are, on occasion, not necessarily operating in a financially or environmentally sustainable way.
Here, our panellists will discuss how on-demand and demand-responsive transport offers a way to fill these gaps by providing underserved travellers with an accessible alternative to the private car, whilst also potentially offering a more cost-effective and sustainable way to replace under-used fixed route services.
