Accessible and Inclusive Assessment

This session explores how assessment can be designed to be more inclusive for students with SEND, drawing on research into accessibility, universal design and access arrangements. We will examine how assessment design choices can help remove unintended barriers, enabling a wider range of learners to demonstrate what they know and can do while improving the validity of assessment outcomes. Attendees will gain practical, evidence-informed strategies for embedding accessibility into assessment, alongside insights into how inclusive assessment design, access arrangements and effective support from teachers can work together to promote equitable access and participation for all learners.
