Evaluating the evaluators: AI's role in shaping translation education
Information
This session aims to present some of the results of a current project being carried out at the Universidad Internacional de La Rioja (Spain). The project, named PANDORA, embarks on a groundbreaking journey to harness the potential of generative artificial intelligence (AI) within the realm of humanities education. Although the project is set within the broad spectrum of humanities, in this session, we would like to focus on the transformative role of AI in the assessment of translation students, offering a critical analysis of current formative evaluation practices. By examining how AI tools influence the evaluation process, this session seeks to uncover both the benefits and challenges posed by technology in academic settings. It aims to foster a debate on rethinking evaluation methodologies to better align with the evolving digital landscape, ensuring that assessment practices remain equitable, effective, and reflective of genuine student learning and translation proficiency.
