Information

The International Accrediting Organisation for Clinical Research - IAOCR and GCSA - The Global Quality Standard for Clinical Research Sites are dedicated to reducing risk in clinical research through evidence-based competence assessments, leading to independent certification and quality assurance for clinical research professionals and sites. Our global quality standards have been developed with and endorsed by key industry stakeholders across the world; our certification marks are the hallmarks of world-class quality and excellence for sites, organisations and professionals within the clinical research industry.

GCSA Certification for Clinical Trial Sites - Become an Award-Winning Site and Trusted Global Partner: The concept of GCSA was developed in close collaboration with the NHS HRA and the NIHR to improve patient access to innovative new treatments and ensure that sites and sponsors work synergistically to get better treatments to market more quickly. GCSA provides a modular framework for clinical trial sites through a process of assessment, gap analysis, process improvement, certification and best practice sharing. The approach was ratified by a Global Advisory Board of industry experts from ABPI, Allergan, Biomat USA, MMV, NHS HRA, NHS Research and Development Forum, NHS London Northwest University Healthcare, Novartis, Parexel, PCMG, Re:Cognition Health and Syneos Health.

Professional Recognition and International Accreditation for Clinical Trial Site Staff: In 2022 four new accreditation standards were released, providing professional recognition for clinical trial nurses, investigators, site managers and coordinators, leading to Internationally Qualified Clinical Research Professional status (Q-IAOCR). Core global standards for clinical trial site staff were developed with input from ABPI, Global Health Clinical Consortium, Global Alliance for TB Drug Development, GSK, NHS HRA, IAVI, Illingworth Research, Kibong'oto Infectious Diseases Hospital, Lightship, MMV, NW London LCRN, Parexel, Re:Cognition Health, Syneos Health, and the University of Oxford. All IAOCR Internationally Qualified Professional status standards are mapped to the International Standard Classification of Education framework developed by UNESCO.

Both GCSA and IAOCR provide partnership networking and marketing opportunities to enable collaboration between NHS and the commercial sector and to facilitate education and thought leadership on best practice standards.
