Information

After this session you’ll be able to:

  • Establish post COVID-19 recovery governance and principals.
  • Manager current and future operating room schedules to optimize capacity and predictability.
  • Improve communication and access to OR time.

Why this is important:

As perioperative departments around the country are working to manage their elective case volume in the midst of uncertainty surrounding the ongoing spread of COVID-19, perioperative leadership, surgeons, and nursing leadership are continually working to together to align on the most recent COVID-19 related restrictions and adjust plans accordingly to ensure the patients that have the most acute needs are met. Doing so involves considerations such as: • What do the current regional/governmental restrictions enable us to do? • What do I need to be thinking about/doing now in order to efficiently and effectively perform these surgical cases? • Due to the changing conditions, can we streamline the process of requesting OR time? • Do we have the resources (equipment and supplies) required to accommodate an increased case volume? During this presentation, Shawn Sefton, VP of Client Operations and CNO at Hospital IQ will share 7 guiding tenets for managing surgical services in a time with such unprecedented uncertainty. She will then detail how predictive analytics can help streamline this process.
