How to Facilitate Difficult Conversations about Race Through Literature

This important and timely topic is frequently a hot potato. But how do you get and keep the discussion going while keeping it civil? This group’s moderator directs each discussion around a different book (read ahead); participants discuss the issues within the context of literature/history. It becomes a safer space to have a discussion, when the main ingredient is not personal. This Racial Equity Book Group is conducted entirely online via zoom with the cooperation of multiple libraries across two states. A brief overview of how this started and how we keep it going.
