8 Essential Ingredients for Effective Product Management

What does it take to do well as a product manager? As everyone’s story is unique, so is their toolbox. But at the core of product management is understanding. Understanding the problem, the audience, the business and the technology. To get this understanding a variety of disciplines need to be involved. In this talk Sebastian will share 8 lessons he learned during his journey of being a developer, a designer and a product manager. The power of responsible prototyping to develop a minimum viable product The difference between an engineering mindset and a product management mindset Framing a product’s story Collaboration between design and engineering teams

The Fake News Arms Race: How AI Can Create – and Detect – Fakes

Recent breakthroughs in Deep Learning, and especially Generative Adversarial Networks, have enabled great leaps forward in AI. At the same time, they have made powerful content-generating tools more and more accessible, increasing the danger of them falling into the wrong hands, as we have witnessed in the recent Deep Fakes epidemic and the Fake News Generator developed by OpenAI that was deemed too dangerous for public release. In this talk, Or Levi, founder of AI startup AdVerif.ai, will take us through the emerging Fake News arms race, between “Bad AI” for generating fakes and “Good AI” for detecting them. We will take a look at recent examples of AI-generated fakes and the underlying technology, from realistic face-swapping videos to AI that can mimic the voices of Trump and Obama. Or will cover the current state of AI for detecting fakes while discussing its potential and limitations. Learn how AI can help fight Fake News with a spectrum of tools, ranging from Machine Vision for detecting manipulated images to Natural Language Processing for identifying psycho-linguistic features, and data pipelines for Deep Learning at the scale of billions of items.

Building High Performance & Highly Available Hadoop Clusters

In my current position in Oracle I'm working with many customers all around the world and help them to be successful with their Big Data projects. So, I'm kind of bridge between development and fields, bring and create best practices from Development to the field and bring feedback from the fields to Development for adjust roadmap of Oracle Big Data products. After accumulating all practical experience and gather feedback from customers we found really good default configs for Hadoop Clusters, which could fin for 90% of the customers for their needs. It include 5 pillars: YARN performance tuning Spark performance tuning Set up Static Service pools Set up Dynamic Service pools Setup Hadoop cluster in Highly available way

Applying (D)DDD and CQ(R)S to Cloud Architectures

Many software architectures may benefit from the introduction of (Distributed) Domain-Driven Design and Command Query (Responsibility) Separation. No matter whether you are maintaining large legacy software systems or start a new microservices platform as greenfield approach, one always has to think about the domain language and service design. This talk shows how to get started with introducing bounded contexts, domain models, and implementing CQ(R)S where it makes most sense while trying to avoid the technical debt trap, e.g. misconceptions and fallacies. Thus, we will cover Event Storming, Context Map Patterns and the Building Blocks of DDD with dedicated real-life code examples. At the end one will be able to apply many DDD principles and will have learned how to tailor systems according to their domain – effectively and efficiently while using modern technology standards and working with a DevOps approach. Some of the topics will be: Cloud Infrastructure Domain-driven Design CQRS
