Information
Poster is on display.
The project „hpc.bw – Competence Platform for Software Efficiency and Supercomputing“ (dtec.bw) aims to strengthen innovative cross-location HPC-driven research at the universities of the federal armed forces Hamburg and Munich and to promote the transfer of relevant HPC competences in various disciplines. Consequently, hpc.bw supports the development of efficient software solutions, provides HPC computing resources, transfers knowledge about the potential and utilisation of available systems as well as facilitates the acquisition of HPC competences at a low threshold. To achieve this, the container-based HPC computing center (CBRZ) with HPC-cluster HSUper was set up. HPC improvements to software at the universities of the armed forces is provided through annual calls for performance engineering projects. In addition, an HPC portal with Competence Platform (HPCCP) is being developed in collaboration with the Chair of Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning. On the basis of this interdisciplinary cooperation, various target groups will be given the opportunity to acquire HPC competences independently through a range of educational offers. The special part is that the offers of the HPC portal are developed and implemented in line with methods of adult education. The different offers include, e.g., workshops and training about HPC knowledge and supercomputing, a glossary with HPC definitions, regular seminar series, or forums for peer exchange and support on the software implementation for projects. The poster provides the timeline of the project, discusses preliminary findings from two rounds of performance engineering calls and sheds light on the interaction between the fields of continuing education and HPC.
