In this poster we present the targets and current status of the project CIRCE. The project targets the development and setup of a computational immediate response centre for emergencies that can leverage HPC resources. Based on the experiences made during the COVID-19 pandemic CIRCE evaluates the further need of the public sector in Germany for HPC and high-performance data analytics (HPDA) resources in emergency situations such as a pandemic, extreme weather events, disaster handling and prevention. We present the results obtained so far from the evaluation period along with an overview of the status of two prototypical implementations that are used to demonstrate CIRCE’s capabilities and evaluate resource requirements in terms of staff and computing time. Based on these evaluations a concept for the permanent setup of a computational immediate response centre for emergencies at HLRS is developed.
