iMagine is an EU-funded project that has set itself the task of developing, operating, validating, and promoting a dedicated iMagine AI framework and platform. The project aims to promote advances that are in line with the overarching theme of 'Healthy Oceans, Seas, Coastal and Inland Waters'. To effectively achieve the objectives of the project, eight use cases in different areas of aquatic science collaboratively engage with the iMagine AI Platform providers. The iMagine platform is closely linked to EOSC and AI4EU and heralds a new era in which researchers in the aquatic sciences have unfettered access to a variety of AI-based image analysis services and image storage. The platform allows users to develop, train, and share AI models on the marketplace. The models are encapsulated as Docker images to ensure the reproducibility of the models. Researchers leveraging the flexibility of the platform can seamlessly execute these Docker containers on both federated clouds of the EGI e-infrastructure and on High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructures. This seamless execution is facilitated by the user-friendly udocker tool available to users. As an open-access ecosystem, the iMagine platform not only drives research, but also fosters collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing within the aquatic science community.
