Saving Energy for More Compute - A Holistic Approach to Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency is of utmost importance for operating today's large scale HPC systems as it determines the scale and costs of supercomputers. At LRZ, we are procuring our systems with total costs of ownership, meaning investment and operating costs such as electricity for the entire lifespan. Consequently, any energy savings will contribute to a bigger system and more compute performance. In fact, LRZ is not only considering the HPC system, but utilizes a holistic approach for all energy aspects within the supercomputing centre.
