Information

The Arm architecture is gaining traction in HPC as more hardware arrives. Over the past decade, Arm has matured from research projects to today a solid and robust alternative to x86. This has been made possible thanks to pioneering research by institutions around the world and increased adoption of beyond HPC (Cloud, Edge, Smart Devices of all sorts). A key component of this success is the state of the software ecosystem. Strong support from Linux vendors engaging the “System Ready” standard, compiler/libraries/tools providers supporting the platforms and application programmers porting. The most-recent trend is the numerous ISV engagements and announcements. In all, significant and collaborative efforts have resulted in these technologies being available in the market. Of course, applications are the key metric for a mature ecosystem. Application programmers' experiences and opinions embody the knowledge to propel the platforms. The individuals, organizations and their stories need to come together and be shared for the good of the community. This BoF is a focused and driven discussion on the topic of these experiences. Primed by a short opening session from well-recognized experts in the community, the host and panel will engage attendees to share and ask probing questions. We seek to provide a venue where users with similar experiences and needs can meet up for collaborations, mentorships and fruitful technical discussion.
