Information

wfGenes is a tool to generate various types of workflow management systems (WMSs) by parsing a single workflow configuration file called WConfig. Naturally, workflows are defined in a human readable format, JSON or YAML, with an efficient and concise structure to generate different types of WMSs. To do so, wfGenes relies on dependency analysis and automatic code generation for specific WMS. This approach enables users to examine different types of WMSs based on the application requirements and available computing environment. In this work we suggest the strength of wfGenes by modeling and executing different case studies from different domains using common graphical user interface (GUI), running on top of Jupyter Notebook. Moreover, we claim that wfGenes can be extended to adopt different WMS configuration files written in markup languages e.g., YAML, JSON and XML. Additionally, wfGenes is available with pip package manager and offers portable installation on local and remote machines that can be well integrated with python virtual environments and containers.
