Abstract:
The European Energy Research Alliance transversal Joint Programme Digitalisation for Energy (DfE) has been recently launched and aims to be a long-term cross-cutting activity within EERA. DfE is an evolving living community in which different EERA members with interests in digitalisation of the energy sector can join at any time. As of Feb 2021, 17 institutions are involved. In the context of the Clean Energy Transition, digitalisation is an enabler of the challenge-driven transition, being an opportunity to tap the potential of large-scale data and connect large- and small-scale energy technologies in a cross-cutting and holistic fashion. DfE is conceived as a transversal Joint Programme with the aim of defining key priorities for related research activities covering the full spectrum of societal, technical, and environmental aspects. The DfE shall also acts as contact point for major European initiatives on supercomputing, big data, FAIR data, artificial intelligence, open science, etc. It is structured in several subprogrammes with a special focus on HPC, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, and different energy sectors. Among other milestones, DfE is currently working on compiling a numerical map of codes, repositories, and digital methodologies. Last but not least, two joint publications are on its way. The first being a submitted white paper on advancing FAIR and open data principles in the energy community, led by the H2020 project EERAdata. The second is a position paper on the latest HPC developments in the energy sector, which is under preparation in collaboration with the H2020 EoCoE-II project.Visit the Project Website
