From Recovery to Prevention: A New Mandate for Public Sector Fraud: Hosted by Synectics Solutions[
Information
Fraud now costs the UK public sector an estimated £55bn–£81bn a year. Yet only a small proportion is detected. Whilst detection and recovery are improving, the scale of undetected loss makes one conclusion unavoidable: the current model cannot simply work harder, it must work differently.
In this headline address, Synectics’ CEO will make the case for shifting public sector counter fraud from recovery after the event to prevention before loss occurs. Drawing on the lessons of private-sector fraud prevention, the session will explore how organisations can use connected intelligence, technology and earlier intervention to identify risk and prioritise action in the areas of greatest vulnerability and potential impact, including grants, lending and complex entity fraud.
The opportunity is to move beyond isolated cases and retrospective recovery: preventing fraud at scale, protecting public funds and improving outcomes for legitimate citizens.
