Osvaldo Mejia, Ayoub AL mahrami - Since its birth, guided wave testing (GWT), a.k.a. long-range ultrasonic testing (LRUT), have been largely applied in the oil and gas industry for the inspection of pipelines due to its faculty for screening large lengths of pipeline from a single point of contact. This ability has made the GWT one of the “other technologies” most used for integrity assessment of pipelines; however, regardless of its broad acceptance, industry standards guiding the integrity management of pipelines do not provide a clear framework for the use of GWT neither they do agree on the role that it plays in the an integrity assessment process, For example, NACE SP 0313 and API RP 1160 classify the GWT as a standalone corrosion integrity assessment method, BSI PD 8010-4 states that it is an in-service inspection method, NACE SP 0116 and SP 0210 reference it as an inspection technique, and DNV RP F116 allocates it as a corrosion monitoring technique. This paper makes a compre
