The Feedback Loop: Practical Lessons for Giving and Recieving Feedback for the EM Physician

Feedback is central to emergency medicine—whether shared peer‑to‑peer, from medical directors, or across nursing, EMS, support staff, and trainees. Yet many clinicians struggle with how to deliver both critique and praise in the same conversation, or how to manage the emotions that come with receiving feedback. This session explores practical strategies drawn from outside fields such as sports, music, and education to make feedback more effective and psychologically safe. Using growth mindset principles, participants will learn how to reframe feedback into constructive action, strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, support trainee development, and enhance patient care.
