Demonstration of live artwork that erases the border between music gig and dance performance
Information
An excerpt from the new live artwork "(NO W)AVE" (premiering in January 2024), that erases the border between music gig and dance performance.
The sound produced by the movements of performer wearing wireless devices is sampled in real-time and turned into music. The performer add further movements based on the music. In other words, the performer is both a dancer and a musician playing musical instruments at the same time.
"(NO W)AVE" easily transcends the categories of art.
Here’s the structure of the show -
01. The performer moves.
02. The movement makes noise.
03. The noise is sampled and played in a loop.
04. The looped sound motivates the performer to move further.
This work sheds light on the many forms of "isolation" that lurk in contemporary society. The audience witnesses the various scenes of "isolation" appearing on stage.
The title of the work includes the word "(NO W)".
"(NO W)AVE" is a "contemporary" live artwork that is trying to describe "NOW”.
