Our curated in-person season at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the largest arts festival on the planet, hosts over 100 shows and events each August.
Companies and artists typically come to Edinburgh to showcase their work on an international stage, to show their work to to the many programmers, presenters and arts professionals attending the Fringe, to try out new ideas with an audience, to seek reviews and awards, to network and make connections, and to participate in and see other work in a theatre festival with other participants from all over the world. Work coming to Edinburgh needs to be ready to self-produce, but we are happy to give advice and support.
We offer a range of well-equipped temporary black box performance spaces offering formats including end-on, thrust, corner stage, in-the-round, traverse and cabaret at multiple city-centre venue locations in Edinburgh during the Fringe. Alongside this, we have developed a speciality programming immersive, interactive, installation and site-specific theatre. We are known for our dance theatre, circus theatre, cabaret, performance art, cross-genre and interdisciplinary work, and our lively discussion sessions and events involving performance, music, visual and literary arts.
Our award-winning digital performance programme shows online work from all regions of the world throughout the year and offers creators the chance to show their work digitally at fringes and festivals in multiple countries. On-demand digital work just needs to be filmed and ready to show. We also show live-streamed and live interactive digital work.
Our aims and our purpose are cultural and educational. We seek to showcase the best independent artistic and creative work. At the heart of what we aim to achieve is to create an environment where creativity can flourish, where people can learn from each other and develop their skills and mutual understanding, where diversity is celebrated, where participants and audiences are enriched culturally, and where participation is accessible and inclusive for all.
