An artist duo comprised of architect Rick Yamakawa and performing arts manager Yuko Takeda.

Through the creation and presentation of the works, Transfield Studio continues to consider "How can we be together?”. It is also an exploration of how close we can get to the basic premise of the post-modern city, which everyone agrees is that "we live by gathering together" and "we live by sharing limited resources," with a real understanding of this premise through our own bodies. For this reason, we conduct fieldwork in the actual cities where we create our works. Touring performance is the core of our creative practice, and we value the audience's experience of the city through their own bodies.

We started our work in 2018 by researching Phnom Penh (Cambodia). In 2019 we researched Manila (Philippine), Vientiane (Laos), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and Tokyo (Japan). In 2022, we stayed Singapore for 2 month as a resident artist. In addition, we've worked with Philippino performance maker the late JK Anicoche from 2019 to 2021.

Description
"Lines and Around Lines - Case in Saitama" Towards the river; the line which has been/is/will continue to be drawn across the land―. This tour-performance takes you from Omiya Station to Arakawa-river by bus and foot, with audio guide. The newly created river and the newly developed golf course. What you hear is the story of people who have lived by reshaping rivers and defining the land. Among Saitama, move from the "around" to the "line that defines the around as the around". Where are we? Did we know the meaning of this scenery? This is the second work of "Lines and Around Lines", which approaches cities from the perspective of flood control and approaches that premise. Following on from "Case in Singapore / Tokyo" (2022), which talked about Tokyo as part of the plains and the city-state of Singapore, this work explores the actions of humans living in a vast space and a long period of time. https://www.transfieldstudio.com/en/lines-saitama Start from: Omiya Station West Exit Bus Terminal #1 Seibu Bus Route 36 via Sanjo-machi Participation fee: 1,500 yen (Japanese audio guide Only).
