Eco Wear
Information
The Eco Wear turnsTextile waste into an inclusive Eco-fashion label, providing employment opportunities for local women tailors and youth by collecting, sorting, and transforming used textiles into new fibres, yarns, fabrics, and garments. In Tanzania, textiles comprise an estimated 10% of the total waste generated . This waste often ends up in landfills or is burned, contributing to environmental degradation and pollution. Textile waste releases harmful chemicals into the environment as it decomposes, posing risks to both human health and the local ecosystem. The Eco Wear aims to reduce this waste by upcycling used textiles into new, fashionable products, thereby promoting a circular economy.
