Information

NPL have developed a facility to create controlled concentrations of gases and particles within a circulating air stream aimed at simulating the emissions typical of stacks. This facility delivers the ideal route to test and calibrate emission monitoring equipment and provides the means for confirming proficiency of personnel in making these measurements. A series of ports allows insertion of instruments into the air stream at various locations around the system so that sampling and measurements may be made. Linked to NPL’s traceability to primary SI units, measurements can be made with low uncertainties and calibrations generated with full traceability.
National Physical LaboratoryNational Physical Laboratory - Virtual locationProviding confidence in every aspect of environmental monitoring NPL are the National Measurement Laboratory for the UK and have 800 scientists and 400 laboratories across all science disciplines. Environmental monitoring expertise has been developed by NPL over many years and is a critical aspect of the support we deliver nationally and internationally. We ensure our customers are able to monitor gas emissions reliably and comply with evolving environmental regulations. Our high quality, cost-effective pollution monitoring and analysis services are delivered using unique environmental test facilities. We help industry, research organisations, environmental regulators, government and other measurement providers to evaluate instrument performance, demonstrate conformance with industry-standard protocols and validate instruments in the lab and the field. Our emissions, ambient air sampling and analysis services are accredited to ISO 17025 and all our measurements are traceable to UK national standards, providing you with ultimate confidence in data and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Our expertise and innovation eliminates the need for specialist in-house resources and reduces our customers' technical risk. We deliver revenue, cost and time savings for complex technical challenges. Our unique combination of experts and equipment makes us one of the premier environmental measurement facilities in Europe.
