Information

The DIAL system is able to monitor atmospheric pollutants remotely, at ranges of up to 1 km. DIAL measurements are real-time, directly traceable to primary standards of gas concentration and are free from interference and contamination. The DIAL technique can be used for a number of atmospheric monitoring campaigns, including: 1. Remote measurements into inaccessible, hazardous or elevated areas 2. Wide area surveys of diffuse sources, including methane from landfill sites 3. Measurement of total industrial site emissions, including flares and tanks 4. Boundary fence monitoring 5. Identification and quantification of leaks and fugitive emissions 6. Plume tracking and source identification from complex industrial plant 7. Environmental impact assessment
National Physical LaboratoryNational Physical Laboratory - Virtual locationProviding confidence in every aspect of environmental monitoring NPL are the National Measurement Laboratory for the UK and have 800 scientists and 400 laboratories across all science disciplines. Environmental monitoring expertise has been developed by NPL over many years and is a critical aspect of the support we deliver nationally and internationally. We ensure our customers are able to monitor gas emissions reliably and comply with evolving environmental regulations. Our high quality, cost-effective pollution monitoring and analysis services are delivered using unique environmental test facilities. We help industry, research organisations, environmental regulators, government and other measurement providers to evaluate instrument performance, demonstrate conformance with industry-standard protocols and validate instruments in the lab and the field. Our emissions, ambient air sampling and analysis services are accredited to ISO 17025 and all our measurements are traceable to UK national standards, providing you with ultimate confidence in data and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Our expertise and innovation eliminates the need for specialist in-house resources and reduces our customers' technical risk. We deliver revenue, cost and time savings for complex technical challenges. Our unique combination of experts and equipment makes us one of the premier environmental measurement facilities in Europe.
