Scheduled completion: Spring 2022 (4K/52min x 2) In stunning 4K image, this series spotlights Niigata and Aso, the two rural regions of Japan known as home to fascinating half natural half artificial “satoyama” environments such as beautiful terraced paddies and green volcanic plains but prone to natural disasters, to explore yearly cycles of the nature, as well as people’s wisdom to live in those specific environments.
NHKNHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) is Japan’s sole public broadcaster. Funded by fees from Japanese households and businesses, it has a reputation for impartial, high-quality programming. Through its six nationwide TV channels and three radio channels, NHK reaches about 60 million households and businesses.
